Detroit PD M&P 38 Snubby (Pre 10)
Rack # 9859 (SN : C440xx) joined the Motor City PD in Feb. 1948. The nickel finish gun shipped as part of a large department order and shipped before many of its "S" serial classmates left the factory.
Lt. George Baglaj joined the department in Aug. 1950, and spent much of his career in the waterfront district.
The two retired together in Oct. 1977.
Shown with one of Baglaj's holsters, contemporary hat and chest badges (not Baglaj's) and period Peerless handcuffs. The S&W and holster along with other documents were obtained from the family to whom I am very grateful.

Love it, love it, love it! If I could like it more than once, I would! What other documents do you have?

Randy, it just don't get much better than that!! What a fantastic find. And I am always happy to see wonderful artifacts like this end up with folks who appreciate and care for them.
On the other hand, I would still take it out to the range now and then!! A little gentle exercise keeps them spry!! That and a good cleaning and relubing every now and then....
Best Regards, Les

I have a letter from his son, a photo of his hat and badges, and a copy of the registration he filed when he took the gun from the department. So far I have not been able to get a photo of him as the pictures were packed for moving at the time I got the gun. I may try to contact the department. The son pointed me to some photos online involving the waterfront division but I found no photos of him.
