A 2" B, RB M-10 was my very 1st ever off duty gun, purchased 1 week prior to entering thr academy. That was in January 1980, & as the 9mm & .380 craze began taking hold a couple of years later, like an idiot I traded it in for an AMT .380. (
May the gun gods pleaxe forgive me !! ) My next identical M-10 was an Peruvian Federal Police contract overrun, that I bought from Ron Shirks in PA for @ $175, NIB. That too got sold off to fund a Colt 9mm AR-15. I will tell you that my next 2" M-10 or M&P WILL BE KEPT, forever. Live & learn, right ? At least I still have what I feel to be one of the best 'fighting' .38 Spl. revolvers ever made, my M-64 4" HB, Factory DAO NY-1 model. Perhaps because that what I had to qualify with for years until we went over to auto's, but I just feel so confident with it ! OK, that's my .02 cents worth. Contrats to the O/P on a truly beautiful example of an S&W classic, & GOOD LUCK with your treatments. THANKS

Best, dpast32

Good luck with the treatments. Have fun with the snubby; it is one of the nicest I have seen posted here.

Bill,
Thanks for the encouraging words. Have you had your gun lettered? We thought mine (C44111) would be a 1948 gun too. Turns out, per letter, it is an early 1949. BTW, please post pictures of your gun. I would love to see them!

amazingflapjack,
Thanks for you kind words too, my friend!

Thanks to dpast32 and John P. too!

Les,
I really like your gun, thanks for posting a picture. I wonder if it could be a round butt vs. square butt thing? Maybe some of the experts here can explain it.

WOW! That is absolutely beautiful! It inspires me to try some Fitz metal polish on my 1978 nickel model 19!
Hang tough with the chemo! My sister and my best friend are both cancer survivors and are doing well. It's great to meet you here on the forum!

Default Larry M.

I have bought lots of guns from Larry M. in the past. I can tell you he is always extremely honest and his guns are better than described. Larry is a fantastic guy and I consider him a friend. Larry is exceptionally knowledgeable about just about any type of gun, not just Smiths.

I still regret selling a very nice nickel .22 revolver model 34-1. I did not want to decrease it's value by making the turn line any worse than very faint and it kept calling to me "shoot me!". I often wonder if it's new owner shoots it much.

Larry, I gave you bad information on my C prefix snubby. That's what happens when you try and rely on your memory without actually looking it up. My C prefix 2' M&P is serial # C32205 which was shipped to Richmond Va. on October 14th 1948. I got it confused with my 4" M&P serial 48XXX which was shipped in 1949. Here's a picture of my S prefix 2" and my C prefix M&P. The C is on the right.

Todd, you are correct about Larry! Dealing with him was first rate in every way! He is a new friend of mine too. I have done deals with fat tom (another forum member) too. It was also first rate in every way!

Bill,
My memory likes to do that too. I am glad I asked for pictures, because you got TWO winners there! I really like the hammer style on the "S" prefix gun too. When or if my "gun fund" builds back up, I will be looking for a "S" prefix blued gun like yours.
Larry

Since the O. Ball holster does not fit this gun, I found a holster that would work. It is a vintage Eubanks Leather holster. According to the marker's mark, it is more than likely from the 1940's which is perfect for this gun. Here are some pictures:

Default "Dick Tracy" Snub

Here's my minty early C Series (late 40's) that I bought in the mid 1980's. I'm a sucker for short barrels.
