Good buys are still out there....2" M&P
Dropped by a local shop at 5 minutes to 5.....cases were empty, ready to close, and the owner tells me, "Hey, you're a revolver guy, I have some you might want to see....he brings out a K22, a flat latch model 36, a 1905 in 32-20, and this 2" square butt M&P......with a price tag that said $299.00.....glad he stayed open an extra five minutes for me....grips do not number to the gun.

Robert:
That is a beauty, and since I already have a RB M&P snub, I'm in the market for something just like that!!! Even looks like the right era!!! From the serial, I would say early 50s, but that's just a guess.
You done good!!! What a price!!! You're just up the road from me, good thing I didn't see it first!!! Congratulations!!
Best Regards, Les

A great deal, to be sure. Got my '49 or '50 two inch M&P for $420 a couple of years ago, and I thought I got a decent price. Have fun with that cool old gun. Mine's a fine shooter.

It's ALL IN THE HUNT!! There are STILL PLENTY of great vintage guns out there! Remember..... they made TENS OF THOUSANDS every year for decades! There are people who purchased these guns and rarely if at all ever fired them. Not every gun owner shot like many of us do.
Persistence is a virtue and will eventually pay off. One NEEDS to know when to jump on something and when to let it go. That usually comes from experience and being burned a few time; been there - done that. All that said....... sometimes you just accidentally fall into something and you must jump on it before someone else does.
Many times the BEST BUYS I have ever gotten was when I was not even in the market for that particular item - I just stumble upon it!
EXAMPLES:
S&W M1905 4th change - unfired in 100% condition $175
S&W Baby Chief's in original red box - unfired (3 digit ser. # 1st. year production) $145
Colt Dick Special 3rd Gen. NIB with ALL accoutrements $275
PRISTINE sets of grips for M1905's Baby Chief's, I Frames, Model 12's etc that I purchased in new or as new condition for so little I won't even say -
All the above were found while not even looking - when I did stumble across them I was not about to leave them there!
When at gun shows I'll usually pick up NEW hammers, triggers, grips, firing pins, rivets, if they are genuine original and NOS for a reasonable price. HOWEVER as a novice many years ago I DID over-pay a few times before gaining some patience and persistence.

That was definitely quite a deal! With your kinda luck, the pawn shop owner will call you and say he forgot to give you the original box!!
