The beloved state of California has a roster of handguns that are allowed to be shipped in.(DOJ ca handgun roster) They mandated the manufactures have to pass a test. Last I heard, they require a $5000.00 payment for each model of handgun sent to them. 2,3,4,5,6,7 inch barrel lengths etc. etc. constitutes different models). I do not remember the numbers but it went from thousands allowed in to just a several hundred.

Just for future reference, anything 50 years or older is considered a C&R and is exempt from the DOJ roster. Meaning if this was legit, your dealer could receive it. Also, guns that have been classified as C&R by the ATF that aren't 50 years old are also exempt from the roster.
Here's one of the lists. There's also been recent updates.
Good read. I contacted my ffl and he agreed with the exception of semi-auto rifles and semi-auto hand guns. None allowed regardless of age, unless on roster.
