Default Dating/ID?

I have a S&W 32 Regulation Police serial # 451888. It is a 5 screw, fixed sight, checkered walnut grip, 4.25" barrel. Anyone know the date of manufacture?
It is also stamped "ACPD 10". Any guess which Police Dept this might be?

451888 would very likely have shipped in later 1925. I list several RP SNs fairly close on either side which did. No one can give you a reliable date of manufacture, not even S&W. No idea about the ACPD. Atlantic City?

Wow! Thanks
When I phoned S&W Customer Svc, the rep said the mfr date was 1940.

Seems like a considerable number of questions phoned in to S&W get strange answers. Your best information source is right here.

I agree with DWalt; likely 1925, early 1926. But could be anytime up to 1941.

Is the extractor knob a mushroom like this?

Or barrel knob like this?

I also think it's Atlantic City Police Dept. New Jersey PDs used these 32 Smiths for many years.
