Yes, Target loads are fine. Even std. loads. NO! hot stuff at all.

A 626xxx would be around 1930. Not sure how you arrived at 1906-08, unless you added an x too many.

Serial number 626xxx would indeed be from ca. 1930-31. The closest M&P SN I have listed is 6281xx which shipped in 5/31. No problem whatsoever in using smokeless powder ammunition in it.

Crogs, I'm glad to see that you are secure enough with yourself, that you know it's OK to laugh at yourself from time to time

I use the same excuse regarding photos...my son DOES have the fancy pants phone that takes quality pictures which he sends to me via e-mail for posting...my old digital camera has about 10% of photos in its memory of my thumb or finger...I ain't no Mathew Brady or Ansel Adams when it comes to photography...more like Mr. Magoo....

If it's too ugly for you, send it to me. Round butt M&P's weren't all that common in that time period....

Just remember that the amount of finish on a gun doesn't win shooting competitions. I would rate your 38 HE, 4th very high as a potentially great shooter. Edged are crisp and sharp, finish is smooth and well cared for over the last 80 plus years and I bet it is as tight as a proverbial drum. It is way above an average 38 HE of the era. Have fun at the range.
