Chiefs Special date please
Was hoping someone can date a pre-37 airweight for me: SN 831XX. Flat latch with grey box. Thanks.

Third quarter of 1956. It's a Model of 1953 made on the New J frame, and most likely is a 3 screw.

803xx shipped in 5/56 so yours likely shipped a little later. Yours is in the SN range of those manufactured in 1956.
