Default Need a little help with ID & value please

Traded for this the other day & need a little help with what I have and it's approximate value. The horse is out of the barn since I already own it:-) I would call this a Pre-Model 10, which is likely wrong. As I hope the pictures will show, the nickel (nickel?) is in fair shape with some wear at the muzzle and a bit of freckling over all. Lockup is tight & I would rate it a good shooter grade gun. Serial # is 391569 Ballpark value?

Now we will see if I can figure out how to post a pic.

It's a little earlier than a pre-Model 10 (ca. 1948-58). The closest M&P SN I list is 3938xx which shipped in 12/1921. I can't say for sure if the plating is original, but it doesn't strike me that it is. Looks like the hammer and trigger are plated, and they should not be. Is there an "N" stamped anywhere, such as on the grip frame or on the rear face of the cylinder? Grips, obviously, are not original. Value? Maybe $300 or thereabouts as a shooter-grade gun at a gun show in most places.

Thank you for the response. You are correct in that the hammer and trigger are plated. I did not find the letter N anywhere on the gun...which I valued at a little over $300...don't believe I'll get hurt too bad.

Given that it's pre-WW II, the absence of the N does not mean that it was not an originally nickeled gun; at that time, there should be a B next to the underbarrel serial, had it been blued; there is obviously not. That does not change the fact that the plated hammer and trigger strongly suggest the gun was re-plated at some point.
