Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Did you get that June 6th 1917 date from the bottom of the grips? Sounds like you might have a regulation police from the early 1920s. They didn't make very many in nickel. Can you post a picture or two of the gun?

Welcome to the forum.
That's a nice looking .32 Regulation Police Model if the back strap is notched like this when the stocks are removed and the serial # is on the front strap:
There is a serial # stamped on the back side of the right stock but it will not match the gun which is from ~1920, because the stocks with flat chrome medallions are from the 1930s.
Likely re-nickel plated but it "shows" very well so even though not original, in the $300-350 range depending on location and if there's a full moon.

Yes mine is notched the serial # is on the butt of the gun and the # on the side of the stock doesn't match like you said. Thank you for all the great info

My pleasure!
Very unusual for a gun with a notched back strap to have the serial # on the gun butt instead of the fore strap as shown here:
It may have started out as 32 Hand Ejector and had the back strap notched for the Reg Police stocks aftermarket when it was replated.
Still, a very spiffy .32!

Yeah, that looks like someone took to a file to the back strap, probably after drinking a case of beer!

Yes, the notch has been filed into the back strap instead of milled at the factory.
Many prefer the Reg Police square butt stocks to hold onto those little I frame Hand Ejectors. Someone's already customized it just for you.
