Default Pre-Model 18

A friend just bought a really nice Pre-18 with the box. His question to me was whether these guns were shipped with a cleaning rod and brush. I don't recall ever seeing a cleaning rod and brush shipped with .22 caliber S&W revolvers. Can anyone help me out on this one?

Yes, they shipped with a cleaning rod, brush, mop and sight adjustment tool. Hopefully somebody one will post a photo for you...

Photo of the accessories that would have been shipped with a .38 caliber target revolver in 1947 (note brush with no loop on the end). The same accessories were used through the early 1950s for all target models except the cleaning rod was changed from steel to aluminum.

Also the sight adjusting tool for Post War Transitional target models still having pre war adj rear sights have a very narrowed tip.

Note also that both the mop and brush used brass, not yet aluminum.

The clear plastic bag was not yet in use at that time.
