In a word no.....lol
Model caliber vintage wrong
It is a Pinto and the front sight is straight from the factory.
Shipped to NY but not Rex
... Alright, I'm never one to give up easy... So here goes - attempt number two:

Model: 25-2 (.45 Target Model of 1955)
Caliber: 45 ACP
Vintage: 1960's (shipped 1/24/63 to Charles Greenblatt Co in NYC)
Features: two-tone finish (pinto), extremely rare 3.5" Barrel, Beautiful birds-eye Maple Presentation Target Stocks, Red Post Patridge front sight (unusual on a 3.5" barreled N-Frame, but as you said - straight from the factory), Target Trigger, Target Hammer. It is a stunner!!! and a very rare and unique gun.

I cheated a bit this time and went back and found your post on this beauty that I knew I had seen before. Once I found it I recall my initial reaction was: "WOW! Now that is Coooool" Here's a part of your post:

I am not much of a 45 ACP guy (except in my 1911s), but I would make room in my safe for that beauty any day of the week!

So here is my best shot:

Model: .44 Model of 1926 (Target)
Caliber: 44 Special
Vintage: Mid 1950's (gold box, exposed pins, non dished flush escutcheon presentation stocks)
Features: Two-Tone, 6.5" barrel, target sights, Red Post Patridge front sight, target hammer.

That's all I got... If they are two separate guns, they are both special order and both 44 Special target guns, top one Nickel and bottom Blue and both from the 1950's.

I'm pretty much with you all the way Richard, but those roll pins instead of solid pins in the front sight base, make me think of newer vintage.

Very close Richard, your last guess was the closest - only thing you had wrong was the finish of the (partially) Nickel gun

That is a one of a kind and the only one made sporting "REG 698" stamped in the frame. My guess on the particulars:

Model: 1st year .357 Magnum
Calibre: .357 Magnum
Vintage: Shipped in 1935 to NY (December 1935 to be more exact)
Features: 6.5" Barrel, originally sported a Call brilliant bead front sight, was returned to the factory in 1945, now sports a King ramp red post front sight and wears magna grips.

Did I come close?

Ok, the first two are pretty easy, but what about the last one? (Not the same gun as the first two, of course)

All three photos scream "Vintage S&W". With that said, here we go with my guess as to the guns they represent:

Photos 1 and 2 are of the same gun:

Model: Post war .357 Magnum/pre-27
Caliber: .357 Magnum
Vintage: Mid 1950's (probably 1955)
Other features: Wearing target stocks?, 6" Barrel (because it was most common???

Photo 3:

Model: Kit Gun
Caliber: .22 LR (you can see the exposed pin)
Vintage: late 1950's
Features: I'm going with a 4" barrel, but it might be a 2" Barrel

How'd I do?

They all look good but, to me the nickel finish ones rock.

Recently I came full circle with my handguns. I started out with a colt Python in '75 in 357 magnum. I been through many calibers since then. But I returned to my first love the 357 magnum in the s&w m28 HP. I wonder how many returned to the 357 magnum after all these many years?

You did great. The first two are of my 3.5 inch pre-27. It wears diamond targets and the SN seems to put it in 1954. The last is a model 34 no dash with a 4 inch barrel. I haven't seen a rear sight like that on any other gun.

I am going with the following:

Model: .22/32 Hand Ejector (.22/32 Bekeart Model or .22/32 Heavy Frame Target) The frame is too small for a K-22 and there is no roll mark for the "Made in USA" so it is pre-K-22.
Calibre: .22 Long Rifle (you can see the pin that holds in the firing pin mechanism, above the 5th Screw)
Vintage: Mid 19 teens (due to the gold medallions in the two screw I Frame grip panels)
Features: 6" barrel, target sighted, blued, non-recessed cylinder...

I have a pretty high confidence in the above deduction.

Richard,

Pretty good considering the very limited information you got from my pictures. Yes, this is a KCPD Pre-War .357 Magnum. This particular gun was from the 1939 shipment and is marked Reg 5008. It was originally, and is now, a 4" with a Baughman Quick Draw front sight on a King Ramp base. The intent of my pictures were to show the fairly rare example of a KCPD Magnum with matching Magna grips that has not been factory refinished as evidenced by no star on the butt and no rework date on the left grip strap. Considering my limited pictures and cryptic intent I would say you did very well. Thanks for your interest!

Summa y'all take such GREAT photos!!! Well done.

When I saw the lazy ampersand I thought to myself, "Self, you do NOT know offhand when they used that or stopped using it but at least you know enough to spot it!"

But I do have some guns that scream Smith & Wesson, in my opinion, anyway. These are two of them.

I know S&W is most known for revolvers, so I thought this shot might be a nice counterpoint for the pistol fans!

Alright Kris, I'm going with:

Model: Triple Lock
Vintage: Early 1900s
Caliber: 44 Special (just because)
Features: Target model - because that would be way cool...

Then again, it may be an early 1900's K frame M&P - but I'd still say it war target sighted - just because I like the target sighted guns and if it is a K-Frame, it is a 38 Special - because there were a bunch of them.

There - how 'bout that...

I re-read and enjoyed the story in your link to your post on the gun. Too bad all of the photos have been replaced by the Photobucket Extortion image.

Richard, yes I know, that irks me in the worst way. PB is dead to me Out of all of my better threads, that's the first one I thought of when I saw that PB wasn't working any longer. There are a LOT of photos in that one and it would take time to rebuild it - something i'll do someday. What I REALLY need to do is get my SWCA Journal Article on the gun completed.

Not to divert this thread, but postimage.org has been working very well for me so far. Simple to use once you figure it out, free and no apparent limitations.

I don't understand why people don't use the albums here on the forum. They are provided for donors and SWCA members. The hosting sites I have seen periodically expire the photos stored there. That doesn't happen here.

Richard, great thread and great photos as usual!

This particular gun photo for me hits quite a few S&W Historic Highlights:
• .357 Magnum
• Stainless Steel construction
• Pinned & Recessed
• Short Barreled .357 revolver
• Adjustable Sights (on a short barreled revolver)
• Red Ramp Insert front sight
• sexy as hell

I forgot to add that 40 years ago a former "Dirty Harry" exchanged his .44 Mag. for this gun...

Pretty close!

Model 10-5 M&P: YES, Correct

Vintage 1970's: Wrong, but close 1967

Caliber: 38 S&W Special YES, Correct

Features: 4" barrel Wrong by 2" actually 6"
Aftermarket stag grips...Of Course!

Very good guesses! Except for the stag grips of course. That was fairly obvious!

If one thinks about an iconic S&W firearm, the Model 29 stands out, for sure. Here's my take with a classic Model 29-2.

Model 57's are my primary pack mules when prospecting. Recoil sets well in my hand, back on plane rapidly if the first round doesn't stop forward progress. What a fine revolver!
