1917 stamping question
I recently saw this on a S&W 1917 and wondered what it was or meant? I did a Google Lens search on it and it wouldn't recognize it.

It is a inspectors stamp: GHS Major Gilbert H. Stewart
Nice early serrated hammer.

That is the early inspection stamp replaced by the flaming hand grenade (often mistakenly called flaming bomb) stamp at about # 40,000.

This is in the 12,800 range, so that should be right then.
