Mother of Pearl Stocks
Recently ended up with some stocks that I'm still sorting through. The grips in question are K Frame service style stocks made of Mother of Pearl. They are in overall nice condition but have a chip missing near the top of the left hand panel.
What are these worth?

If they are in nice condition with a chip, they are not nice grips. They are chipped. Do you have the screw? Value? to me nothing. Sorry.

They are most likely not factory original stocks. Combine that with the chip and they might bring $50 to $75. I have seen a general decline in non-medallion MOP stocks in the last couple of years and some not even getting a bid on ebay.

I have been watching these a lot lately as i need a set myself.
Watched two or three actions with a chipped set and they were between $60-$80.
Not ever owned a pearl set, would the chip dig into your hand?

If the chip is in the wrong place you will feel it. I had faux MOP grips on my old Vaqueros when I first started shooting CAS and when one chipped I could feel it when I drew that gun from its holster. So I gave them away and switched to bonded ivory. Much nicer and they feel great.
The first scrimshawed set with eagles I purchased that way. The second set was purchased clean and white and I sent them to a scrimshander I know. I asked for Texas stars so she gave me one and then got religious on me for the other one. Cracked me up when I saw them.

A chip is a pretty easy fix. I used some UV activated glue with white nail polish powder mixed in and built up a small chip on a set of W&K that came on my 3rd model 44. You have to look real close to find it.

Do you have any friends that practice dentistry? If so they will be able to match the color with UV activated compound and do a bit of polishing that will make the fix almost invisible. If they charge you for the filling, it will likely cost about the value of the stocks or perhaps more.

Whatever the value, small chips can be smoothed out with a jeweler's file or finely grained emery paper and very light pressure.
