Early HP 5-screw 4" -- gun show pick-up
Attended the Riverton, Wyo., show through the weekend. 80 tables, 260 or so through the door in three days. Lots of idle time but I saw old friends, met some new ones and came away with a few goodies.
I've been wanting a clean Highway Patrolman, and I've been watching this particular revolver for several years. Priced too high at $1,200 so I asked the guy if he'd consider a trade. "Sure." He eventually came over to my table and picked out a '63 Chiefs Special I had stolen and asked for some boot. He let me whittle down the boot, and we both walked away happy.
It's S1216XX, which he said was a first-year, '54, gun. I put it at '55 (before I approached him about a trade).

Oh man that is tne exact gun I wanted ,seriously the HPs are beautiful I actually would love to find one I could afford but then again it sounds like he got a great gun also I mean a 63 Cheifs Special isn't exactly something to sneeze at ,great gun thanks for shareing

S1216XX suggests a late 1954 shipment. It would be from the first year of HP production.
