Default Nickel K 38?

Did Smith & Wesson produce a nickel finished 5 screw K 38 target or combat masterpiece?

There were no standard catalogued pre-1958 K-38 Masterpieces in nickel finish. I don't recall about K-38 CMs but I don't think so with those either.

Yes. I've seen a lot of nickeled Combat Masterpieces. However, nickeled Target Masterpieces are scarce.

Edit to add: I did not assume you were asking specifically about pre-model number revolvers. The names continued to be used long after the revolvers also had model numbers. I do not remember a pre-model number example of either with original nickel.
