Just picked up a Pre model 27 at the local show. Can someone help with dating it serial # is 1573xx. Has a little holster wear but locks up very tight. Also what is value of these? Thanks!

Somewhere around 1956 or so. Can't tell for sure without a letter from the historian. You do know that the letter prefix, which should be an "S", is part of the serial number.

Value is whatever you paid to buy it. I'd guess around $1100, but I haven't kept up with prices these days.

Beautiful.

Your complete serial # is on the butt, S1573XX from early 1956 and it's still a five screw!
