Help on ID and possible value
I went to a local estate auction this morning as there were some items I was interested in including several handguns. I ended up with this S&W .32 Long revolver. It is a 5 screw with what appear to be original diamond grips (Have not looked as yet for matching numbers to the gun). The grips are in very good condition although they are dark but no chips or cracks! All serial numbers are matching on the gun itself - the number is 406416.
Has 4.25" barrel. Finish is not too bad but there is some corrosion on end of barrel. Action is nice and smooth - lock up is tight with no movement. Don't have any .32 Long so can't shoot it yet. Is this ammo readily available?
Anyway I was able to buy it for $190.00. How does that sound? I am more familiar with the post war Smiths of 1950 or younger. Thanks for any info and opinions! Steve

NICE SCORE,love them little 32s,my local cabalas has lots of 32 long in stock so you may want to check there if you have one close to you,and watch out those things are addicting

Most likely would have shipped from the factory in 1924. It is best known as a 32 Hand Ejector, 3rd Model and was built on an I frame with round butt design. They were a popular small frame revolver and sold from 1896 to well past WWII. Up to WWII, there were over a half-million manufactured.

An excellent find at a terrific price!
I only own one prewar .32 HE. I was able to pick it up at an estate auction a few years back. It still had its original box, cleaning rod and some of the paperwork. The box was damaged but all the parts are there. I hope to restore it eventually.
I gladly paid $425 for the package.
