I picked up these along with a few others a few days ago and I am not sure what models they go on. The medallion is .500 in diameter.They fit a round butt K frame. I tried them on a Md-19 and they fit pretty well but i know they are much older than any Model marked gun. What do they fit?





The next set is Mother of Pearl. The medallion is .400 is diameter. I think they fit an I frame but not sure. They do NOT fit a J frame They are much smaller. They are about 2 1/2 inches tall. Any help will be appreciated.

Both sets are from the 1911-1920 period. That is the only time this particular style of medallion was used.

The walnut pair would fit a K frame round butt revolver, the M&P for example.

The pearl stocks might be for the I frame, but you say "They are much smaller." I frame stocks were smaller, but I would not characterized them as "much" smaller. I'm wondering if these might have been for an M frame .22 rimfire. As I recall, the top break centerfire grip frame was roughly the same size as the I frame hand ejector.

I agree the MOPs are probably for the M-frame .22 "Ladysmith." With the medallions they are genuine S&W. That revolver was made from 1902-21, and they are not often seen today. I expect they have substantial value if they are undamaged.

Could be a few different frame possibilities for the pearls. I learned that after filling a plastic bag with stocks that did not fit, I started doing actual size comparisons. Check the dimensions and pictures in the following link: http://smith-wessonforum.com/blog.php?b=111

You do not find many walnut round-butt (K frame) stocks out there today, as most were black hard rubber. I am guessing that not many round-butt wood stocks were manufactured as compared to the square-butt Military & Police revolvers, of which, all were diamond walnut with the same medallion in the 1910s.

The MOP stocks fit:

38 Chiefs Spl Baby J (only), .22, 32, & 38 S&W HE I frames (pre 1953 only), 38 DA, 38 Safety Ham., 38 Perfected, 38 SA = 2.5” high

Any thing later than 1953 models will need stocks 1/8" longer.
