Default S&W hand ejector 32-20...1905 DOM help pls

Hello, I am looking at a S&W, hand ejector, 32-20, 6" barrel, serial #70064, 4th change, that is described as in 95% condition. It does look pretty nice for sure. Seller says it has a DOM of 1905-1906. I was thinking about buying it to go with a very nice Winchester, 1892, 32-20 that I just bought. It is a 1901 model rifle. If the S&W is as described, what would you say on value? Also, I am assuming that the cylinder swings out, and then one pushes the ejector rod and ejects all of the empty casings after firing. Is that correct? Bore and chambers are excellent, action tight, all original. Help appreciated, Keener

It was very probably made in 1916. Tough to estimate value without seeing some good pictures, but I would say, sight unseen, not more than $400.

Condition percentages are notoriously unreliable and in the eye of the beholder, so photos are indeed a necessity if you would like more precise input here.

If it is a realistic 95% and, most importantly, all-original finish with period-correct (checkered walnut with recessed gold-colored medallions) and preferably matching serial-numbered stocks, I could see paying a bit more than $400.

And yes, it operates as you describe.

I just looked in the SCSW4, and that would be a 32-20 Hand Ejector Model of 1905, 4th change, probably from 1916 as DWalt says. The values run from $250 in Fair condition up to $1700 in "As New" condition, so without several good clear close up pictures it would be impossible to place a value on it. If it really is in 95% a guess would be between %500 and $700.

I can only offer my purchase from last month of a 1908 32 Winchester M&P. 1st Change, with pictures, so you can compare it with your potential purchase. I paid $325 at an online Gun Auction plus shipping for it. Some of the bluing is turning brown and there are a few nicks here and there.

Hi keener

I see 725xx shipping in October, 1917, and 762xx shipping in June, 1917. So, 1916 is a good enough guess for yours.

At 95%, I would be trying to buy it for sure.

The stocks should look like these (square butt):

Or these (round butt):
