Default A '47 M&P snubbie and his younger buddy

• 38 M&P 2" - shipped November 1947
• 38 M&P 2" (64-2) - shipped: September 1981

Both go to the range from time to time, very popular with some of my family.

Great guns and a fantastic photo! After looking at the photo, I'm not sure I recall ever seeing a 2" barreled 64 - maybe I have not looked for them before, or maybe I just did not notice them when posted. It looks way cool, especially with those unique grips...

Thanks for sharing,

They are cool, Richard.

In late 1974 or early 1975, I bought one brand new for my bride. I came back from my second year in the war in '72, finished up my time in the military and then we moved to Portland so I could go back to school. I was working nights and going to grad school during the day and she was home with a couple little kids in the "big city." I wanted her to have something for defense other than my 1911 or my Highway Patrolman. So I bought her a 2" Model 64. She got pretty good with it rather quickly, so that I would pity the guy who tried to break into our house with me gone . . .

She still has it, and it is still her go-to defense weapon. We still take it to the range occasionally, although now her favorite shooter is the 2" Kit Gun I gave her for Christmas a couple years back.

Here is a picture of a few of our snubbies. Deb's Model 64 is in the middle. L-R: three K frames, a J frame and an I frame.

I have those same two guns and carry M64 SS quite often. The old post-war snubs in nice shape were showing up around here frequently two years ago, so I got two for cheap. Now they have all vanished. SB in those was all I could ever find. The little 64 RB is quite uncommon in these parts. I bought the only one I've ever seen a year ago. My favorite carry gun.

Mine is a Dec '47 and has a great smooth action. One of the last long actions, might be permissable to call them transitionals.

Thanks for sharing,
The Delaware State Police issued 2" Model 64s to its' detectives in the early '80s.

I also have a '47 2" M&P that is a neighbor to the gun posted by DRYHEAT. Mine shipped September 1947 to Warshall Sporting Goods in Seattle. My letter from Roy does not say anything to indicate that it was a multiple gun shipment.

bullmack, I lived in Seattle for 30 years ('71-'01) and bought MANY guns from Warshalls. Doug Warner became a friend and I see him from time to time when I attend a WAC Gun Show in the summer.
When the "Dirty Harry/M29-2 Fever" hit, Warshalls was THE place to get them! You had be present at the store and enter a lottery to buy one of .44 Mags that had just come in. Doug would wheel in a shopping cart full of boxes and the crowd would get excited. In order of the draw you got to choose from the remaining 29s in the cart. Over a period of time I picked up two 6.5" blues and one 4" nickel and one 4" blue.
Of course I sold them. A long time ago.

It seems there are a lot of those blue and stainless pairs. I put the Hogues
on my 64-2.

Very nice!

I like the 64 (who wouldn't?), but that M&P is beautiful!

The OP has a super nice M&P. I'm proud of my 1950 2 inch M&P...it's good, but not nearly that nice.
