Old shooter .....
Darn near 100 degrees here today. Too hot for our outdoor range or a trip on the Harley. So ..... I'm piddling in the man cave and ran across this old girl I haven't shot in a while.
She was born in the mid 30's I believe.

Based on features, it could be as early as 1927-28, but the '30s are likelier.

Thanks ...... Wish I had the original wood grips for it but, came with these. They're quite old and fit great.
A local friend who's a big S&W guy helped me learn about it. The nickel is factory. My SCSW indicates the round butt and nickel are both good.

With the barrel type extractor rod knob it has, it is likely to be no older than the late 1920s and from the sideplate, no younger than around 1937. The problem with MOP grips is that they can easily be damaged. Best to find a cheaper set of I-frame grips on eBay if you want to take it out to play and save the MOPs for display.

Thank you for the info. This part confuses me. I thought this was a K-frame. (??)

It could well be. It struck me as being a .32 but on second look it is not. But the dating would be the same.

Yeah, it's a 38, sorry, I should have put that in the post.
That shows you how little I know about these guns.

Michael, you should know better by now. You should look around on Ebay, you can usually find something more fitting for not much money, maybe even find on the Ruger Forum.

I haven't bought anything thru eBay since my PayPal account got hacked for about the 3rd time. Just not worth the aggravation.
Have had good luck finding these things locally or through a forum.
