38 Chiefs Special Model of 1953 NEW J frame
Recently aquired this Chiefs Special model of 1953. SN 723XX dates it to early '56.
It's the latest known SN to have the old style hammer. Thank you Hondo44 for that info. 4 screw,
It also has a serrated front ramp. I would describe it's condition as good, A shooter with character. The good news, mechanically perfect with good lock up, .004" gap, no push off, and bright bore. Numbers match including the stocks.
The bad news, it was stored in a cheap leather holster for a K frame. Bluing loss mainly on the cylinder and a little rust on the cylinder and frame, mostly in crevices where I didn't even notice
until I started cleaning it up. It took a lot of scrubbing and Ren wax but it's growing on me!
For 61 years old not too bad.
I need to stay off Armslist! Next stop, the range. Thanks for looking.

That will be a fine little carry gun or backup.

Plenty of power, easy to carry, deadly accurate at self defense ranges and beyond, easy to operate,as reliable as any firearm can be wow what's not to like .Congratulations on a fine weapon .Post us a report on how it shoots as I have seen some amazingly accurate chiefs ,my friend who is in his 80s can out shoot me with his snubbie ,me useing a k frame 6 inch barrel ,the first time he did it was a very humbling experiance .
