Large Medallion Stocks
I took the plunge & bought these @ $100. I know that these were only made for a year or two around 1930-31. It is also my understanding that they came on guns in the 610xxx to 612xxx serial number range. ( I have a 6" M&P from '31 in the 612xxx range that wears its'original set just like these that number to the gun. )
Would 618xxx be too late for these? Another '31 M&P in that range might be where I use these if they are "correct" for it. This set is not numbered according to the seller.

I have a set IIRC is #'d 611xxx. I think 618xxx would be late.

I've only seen them in the 610xxx - 611xxx range , I'm surprised to hear you have a set in the 612xxx range. I would guess the ones you have pictured are from the 610xxx being there are no stamped numbers on them.

Don't fret, the medallions alone are worth the $100.

Nice stocks. Page 493 (Appendix C - Change Dates and Markings) of SCSW 4th Edition has date information on large medallion stocks that help date. Quoting the SCSW
1929 - Stock numbers were changed back to stamped #s
1929 - Recessed medallions of gold plate over brass on stocks were reinstated but in convex wood stocks on Feb. 11. Soon after on March 18, this was changed to flush mounted gold plated medallions. In April this was changed again.
1929-Flush mounted, flat chrome plated over brass of 1/2" diameter were ordered on K & N stocks and 3/8" on I stocks in April.
Attached are photos of the numbers matching stocks from my Model 1917 Commercial. I believe them to be the "flush mounted gold plated medallions" in #2 above.
