What is this and it's value?
I inherited this pistol from my father. I've figured out from this forum that it was made for the British but appears older than a WWII weapon. It has the BNP with the crown, 3 1/2 inch barrel, cal .38, and on the cylinder a possible serial number Z 6192. It has squarish outer barrel, breaks away to load and has a star shaped pusher that comes up and empties the cylinder. There's also an O ring on the base of the grip.

Welcome to the forum.
This should really be in the "Firearms & Knives: Other Brands" subforum, so don't be surprised if the moderators move it there, since this is not a Smith & Wesson.
You have a British-made Enfield No. 2 Mk I** revolver, based on the Z-prefix serial from mid-1943. It should have the same serial underneath at the front of the grip frame and the barrel frame where they join at the break-open hinge, unless it is a parts gun (quite a few are and have non-matching barrels and frames; see picture below for matching location).
It was commercially proofed for sale at Birmingham after the war.

Thanks for the great information. Do you have any idea what it might be worth?

Absalom has identified your revolver. Be aware that the revolver is chambered for the "38 Smith & Wesson" caliber and NOT the "38 Special" caliber. Around here, they go for about $350.

I'd agree with DGT's ballpark. Conditions on these differ greatly; many you see are in rough shape and sell on auction sites in the 200s; yours is in quite a good shape and appears to have the later-war Suncorite (basically black paint) finish. Your serial is pretty early for that finish to be original, so I can't quite make up my mind whether it might be a refinish; it looks like an original finish to me, which would enhance its value somewhat. Commonly, suncorited guns show bad flaking and are just ragged-looking after heavy use, but yours just shows some very moderate and even holster wear around the edges. So in an auction, it might go somewhere above 400 if it catches the right collectors' eye.
