Default Victory Model store counter display

This is a rare store counter display card used in stores during World War II. It has never been used. I thought I'd post it for all the Victory Model collectors. It's the only one I've ever seen.

Very cool!

I'd love to know which date they were referencing when they say "Today...".

Is the Executive Order from 1/23/42 the absolute cut-off date for commercial production?

Interesting item. I note that is says the finish is "Black Magic" and only lists 4 inch barrels. We know the DSC also shipped two inch barrels to civilian users. The invoices for the DSC shipped guns, in both lengths, show various terminology for the finishes - Black Magic, Midnight Black, Blue, etc., plus the Service Dep't did turn out some high polish blued guns during WW2 for special VIPs. I think that comes back to the "today" I referenced above. This card is tied to a specific date at the start of the DSC's revolver program, pre-V-prefix, and if you look at the factory ad for the 2" model which Charles Pate shows on pg. 140, it seems clear that the 2" barrel didn't become available until later. And at least for that early time, the finish info confirms what we know from other sources.

Don,
Would it be possible to post a larger version of that scan? It is hard to read it is so small.
Thanks,
Kevin Williams
