Default Which one should I get????

I have a chance at a '59 vintage 6" Model 14 in about 70% condition that is local. I've seen it in person.

The other choice is online. It's a Model 12-3 Airweight with a 4" bbl. I have other Model 12s. But, a 4" has always eluded me. The pics indicate that it is basically unfired.

Both are the same price. Which way to go???

Best,
Charles

That is a tough one! I have a 14 no dash and it's my favorite out of 8 S&W revolvers. It is the most accurate but 99%.I see your conundrum. The online gun is almost perfect and you have been wanting that one which makes me lean towards that over something only 70%.

Charles, from your other posts and pics of purchases I had no idea you bought guns with nice finishes! LOL

Just kidding, That is a great looking firearm! Congrats. I think Hardcase60 will be jealous.

It shouldn't be a tough choice. Avoid the Model 12. Believe me on this.

Want both, buy both. For one it's the m14, built by the old world s&w craftsmanship.

I think I know what DWalt means. In this case, I would have preferred the reverse, to have the Model 14 online and the Model 12 for personal inspection pre-decision.

But... life doesn't work like that. Sometimes you roll the dice if you want something. If the Model 12 is indeed as "basically unfired" as it looks and you find no hidden issues, it's a great addition to your collection at this price. Good luck!

$400.00-$450.00 might be tops on that one.

I think you and I haunt the same shops and I knew were to look.

Just adding my 'selector factor'. Which is the more uncommon? That is, which to have the most difficulty finding later. Such providing my answer, other considerations being equal.
My take
