Default Wolf & Klar Catalogs the New 38/44 in 1930 Catalog

I got the impression from reading this that they had not yet seen the gun in hand when the catalog went to print. There are interesting similarities and differences with the write-up in the 1930 S%W catalog as shown on 1Aspenhill's web site. I wonder when the 38/44 would have been developed had W&K not committed to order thousands of the "Reinforced" (3rd Model) 44s introduced in 1926 but first shipped in '27.

What we know as the .38-44 Heavy Duty is listed in the 1931 S&W Catalog as the .38-44 Super Police Revolver. No wonder Wolf & Klar was uncertain what to call it in their 1930 catalog.

It has been noted that the Super Police moniker was dropped soon after the introduction of the .357 Magnum . . . no doubt to steer the police market to the newer cartridge and the premium handgun.
