Pre-28 diamond Magna grips
I am new to this forum. I have a minty pre-28 Highway Patrolman that has the large target grips that apear to be dark rosewood with S&W escutcheons. I would like a pair of standard diamond magna grips that match the condition of the gun. Does anyone have an extra set they could live without?
I have learned much from reading this forum and decided to join u

I can't help you with the grips, but welcome aboard from West Virginia!! I have a couple of 28s, and I prefer the magnas as well.
Good Luck, and
Best Regards, Les

You might look on eBay, but a nice-condition pair of period-correct factory Magnas, wherever you get them, might set you back more than you think. There are cheaper options for N-frame grips if you are not hard-over on having Magnas.

Put an ad in the Want To Buy section of this forum. I was after some period correct magnas for my pre model 27. Found a nice pair here in less than a week! Think there might be some other forum members that will sell you a pair.
Good Luck and Welcome to the Forum!

Welcome to the forum!
if you go to eBay and type in search "vintage smith wesson grips", you will see a nice pair at a really high price - after scrolling...
I bought a pair for mine and paid $175 to a forum member here, and felt like I got a good deal.

Thanks guys for advise. Will search other places as you suggest. I have both the pre-28 and the model 28 and never knew how much difference there is between the two until I started reading this forum. The pre-28 seem more like the Registered model than the model 28.....with the exception of the stippling along the top of the sighting plane and rear sight. I could always 'feel' the difference but learned much from reading this forum.

Welcome to the forum.
Any chance you can post a picture of the Rosewood targets ?
I definitely like Rosewood and they are highly likely to be more valuable than the diamond magnas you seek.
