M27 Questions
I have a 3 1/2" M27 (5 screw) I'm considering selling. There is a SN ("S" prefix) on the bottom of the grip frame and on the inside of the ejector shroud (never saw that before). There is a separate number that looks like an SN on the inside of the crane and on the frame (inside, next to the crane). The number on the grip frame is the SN, right? Any thoughts on what a fair value might be? The gun is in good shape but definitely shows use. Thanks for any help.

No sir, the s/n is the one on the bottom of the grip, and the ejector shroud. The others are assembly numbers. You have quite a desirable item there.
It's really going to depend on condition. Just guessing an absolute minimum of $500 and probably going up to $1000 depending on condition. If you can post some good pictures, the local experts can give you a pretty good idea. Be aware that what part of the country you are in can make a fairly significant difference in value as well.

The numbers on the frame and on the yoke (Colt revolvers have cranes ) are assembly numbers. The S plus the digits is the serial number.

With five screws, it is probably a pre-27. Maybe even earlier.

The 3 1/2 inch pre 27s are bringing a premium now. I watched an extremely nice one sell at the last Tulsa Gun Show for $2400. As stated above, condition is everything.

I'd be willing to bet the OP has already gotten at least one or more PMs from interested buyers. (smile)
