Default K22 Combat Masterpiece

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/669677334

I won this about a week and a half ago on GB for $604. I have wanted a non-Model marked version ever since I got my 18-3. This one will make a fine older brother for my first.

I would rate it 85-90% condition wise. There is some holster wear, freckling and a couple what looks a bit like hard water marks on it. The grips are not matching but they are a nice set of diamond magnas in very good condition. Might be that I need to get the Culinas to make a set of targets for it. Sounds good to me. It locks up tight and has no end play.

I gave it a quick wipe down and 99% of the crud that really stood out in the sunlight pics of the auction just wiped away. It needs a strip down and cleanup for sure. I just wanted to make it look presentable for the first pics.

It would have been about perfect if the grips had been matching but I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

The pair.

Looks pretty darn nice to me. I'd pay that for it in a heartbeat!

My hands don't fit magna grips, but that is a fine looking pair. If you put Culina coke profile targets on it you won't be disappointed. I think most of us would have ponied up 6 bills for that nice gun. Enjoy it, they were made to shoot.

Magnas work for me if I have a Tyler T-grip with them, but the K frame targets from the late '50s early '60s fit me best. They have less flare at the base of the grip. Thinking about having the Culinas make up a set with no cutout. I just need to decide what wood I want.

Congrats on your purchase! It cleaned up very nicely. Looks great! Think it over and if and when you are ready you know where I am. :-) In unfinished K-square target grips, we mostly have classic looking signature grade Walnut and Maple. For other woods and grades, we will be milling more in a couple months so you have time to think about it.

If that's an 85% gun I need to revise my grading system!

Probably closer to 90% but there are a lot of liitle things that add up to me, plus I dinged it for non original grips.

ETA:

I took off the grips and soaked it overnight in a bucket of Ed's Red. First thing this morning before the sun got up and started heating up the garage I went out, detail stripped it, then cleaned it up. Not bad at all inside. I thank all who owned it before and took such good care of this revolver. I will do my best to pass it on in as good of shape.
