Default I bought these two for the stocks!! DOBs Please!

I dropped by a pawn shop this afternoon and found these priced at $99.95 each. After a little haggling, I got them for $89.95 each.

The top break .32 serial # is 207007

The 6" .32-20 is 86312.

How much are the stocks worth??

DOBs please!

Best,
Charles

207007 The .32 SH 3rd model ceased production at SN 242981 in 1937.
86312 I show 850xx shipping in 3/20

No idea of the stocks value, but the MOP pair with medallion would probably bring a good price. I assume they are MOP. Are they? For the .32-20 grips, not much - heavily used and damaged.

The factory 1910 decade stocks on the K frame, minimal value. What appear to be factory pearl stocks on the Safety Hammerless (if undamaged - is there a chip by the medallion on the R side?) may be worth more than what you paid for the guns .

After downloading the photos and enlarging the stocks the do look like pearl to me as well. The spot in question looks like possible staining but the photos just aren't clear enough to tell.

Would S&W have provided optional ivory grips (with medallions) in the 1930s? If they do appear to be Ivory, it might be a good idea to letter that .32 SH.

The stocks on the S/H are MOP.

Is the 6" bbl. in the .32-20 common?

Well, the guns are worth more than you paid for them. The MOP stocks have dropped off some, with good condition ones going for $150, but there is something wrong with the right one just ahead of the medallion. Pearl stocks have to be without chips of cracks and it is not possible to tell from your photos, but if chipped anywhere, they quickly drop below $100.

The M&P square walnut service stocks are from the teens, and you probably have a 1919 manufactured 32-20. They are in poor condition, probably worth $50. No idea if the guns are shooters or not, so value is only a guess. Many people just do not buy nickel revolvers, since with any wear, they end up looking like yours. Maybe $100 for the Safety without the MOP stocks and $200 for the 32-20 if both are in good working condition. If not, consider parting them out and double your investment, plus keep the stocks if you want them.

They are both "shooters". The bores are surprisingly good and they function mechanically.
I have two 4" M&Ps in .32-20 from the same time period that have not been refinished. I know that 5" was a common barrel length as well. The 6" bbl. & the stocks (as stated earlier) as well as the price and overwhelming urge to rescue two more "orphans" drew me to these two revolvers.

If the MOP on the .32 were special order, it might get a letter at some point.

Best,
Charles
