Are you sure about the barrel length? Measurement is made from the front face of the cylinder to the muzzle. Is the caliber .38 S&W or .38 S&W Special? That should be stamped on the barrel. Pictures always help.

I'd guess you have a Military and Police (M&P) from about 1927-28.

Welcome to the forum.

.38 Cal is too generic.

That can be more than one model with the same s/n. You need to supply the actual cartridge labeling on the barrel and/or if it's a 5 shot or a 6 shot.

This will help you, to help us, so we can help you:

Given what you have provided I have no problem guessing.

It is a Model of 1905 Change 4 AKA a .38 Hand Ejector.

s/n 571565 shipped in 4/27 so yours is prob a late 1927 or early 1928.

The closest to yours that I have is a 1926 5" version. I'll guess yours is a 4". Let me know how I did.

Looks similar. The barrel is stamped 38 S&W Special CTG and its a 6 shot. Barrel length is 3 1/8 inch for sure.
