S&W .22 Beckeart - Value?
Subject is about 90% IMO, finish EXC but for wear sides of muzzle & some sharp edges, grips EXC, light cylinder turn ring & proper function. LGS has it with several pieces from an estate, priced at $900 which I have on hold while I'm jawboning. Comments appreciated ----->

Well without a serial number it is really hard to say. Most likely it is a 22/32 Heavy Frame Target model and not a "true Bekeart. Several threads just below this that explain more than I could. $900 could be a great price or to high.

I had been looking for a long time and found several very nice $1000+ guns or ****** ones and they were asking $650+ for them. Patience paid off and I got mine for $525 with some issues (broken FP, correct type but probably not original grips) Knowing your experience, I feel confident in your rating, so based on that...... If it's an early gun with numbered grips (first 3000) I'd probably be a buyer. If it's a later gun and just a nice shooter, I would be thinking @$750. This "appraisal" is worth exactly what you paid for it Good luck!!

Probably a fair price - not a steal. How often do you see one in your area?

Quick read up on the Bekeart in Jinks & Supicas books, there is the true Bekeart from 1911, originals with a number stamped on bottom of wood grip, 3K or lower. It was made up into 1930s & still called the Bekeart, with various changes, sights from early bead to patridge, cylinder with recessed cartridge heads, etc. S/Ns of the original 1000 are around 138-139K. Some dates vs events - heat treat cylinder starts 1921 s/n 321k & recessed cylinder 1935, 525K Next thing I have to go to LGS & check details of the gun ----->

I visited it again at LGS. It's ca.1930 s/n 501Ks really a Bekeart in name only. Nice condition I'm awaiting best price but if over $700 I'll pass ---->

Robert,
I would think a "best price" of $700 for one of these still would be too much, for one circa 1930. At that price, I'd expect nearly mint or original box included.
