Looks like a Model of 1905 Change 4. Their s/n ran from 241704 - 1000000.
AKA a .38 Hand Ejector.
I have seen s/n 386747 and it shipped in 2/22 and s/n 360812 shipped in 12/20. So I have you boxed. But remember they didn't ship in s/n order so you never know.
Nice looking revolver and welcome to the forum.
The closest change 4 I have to yours in a 5" barrel that shipped in 4/26.

The nickel finish looks rough, but original; the absence of a B next to the serial under the barrel confirms it left the factory with an original nickel finish. The stocks also are period-correct and likely original to the gun; you can check the right grip panel for a serial penciled on the back, but that may not be apparent.

Complete designation: .38 Military & Police, Model of 1905, 4th change. By the way, these designations are by today's collectors, just for their convenience in classification. The factory just called it a .38 Military & Police.

The closest M&P on my list to Serial# 381107 is 3844xx which shipped in 5/21. The grips on yours are correct for the 1920s.

the absence of "made in USA" on the right side of the frame and the serial number will probably have your revolver made in 1921.....

You would be surprised what a rag and a can of Mothers Chrome Cleaner can do.

Welcome to the FORUM! My Dad gave me his old M&P, before he passed away. (6" blue) It shipped June, 1919. Not pretty, but it functioned quite well. I no longer have it, but my oldest son does. I still have visiting/shooting rights. Try Flitz, Mothers, or Simichrome on it. Not much to loose. Go slow & easy. Certain cleaning chemicals, may damage nickel. Never use steel wool. Bob
