S&W K-22 Masterpiece
I have a S&W K-22 Mastepiece which is apparently a postwar 3rd Model - Pre Model 17 according to the Supica book. It has all the characteristics including 5 screws, the large logo and one line "Made in USA" of the right side of the frame. It has a relatively low serial No. which is also present on the grips so I'm trying to date it. The NO. is K 153XX. I'd appreciate any help.

While K7568 went out the door about three weeks earlier (December 17, 1947), suggesting once again this guessing game we play is fun for the feeble minded.
If you really want to know when any gun shipped---get a letter.

Two different answers to the question, one solid and one a best guess. A manufacturing list exists for all Masterpiece revolvers and your revolver was manufactured in 1947 as stated above. That serial number range was from K615 to K18,731.
Ship dates are only an estimate since the company did not ship in numerical order. Only way to be certain of that date is to request a factory letter as Ralph suggested.

That is interesting. The one I showed above (s/n K87xx) shipped in November of 1947. Amazing.
