Default Replacing 1948 K22 rear sight blade

Are these year specific? Tried to lower the notch on mine (another thread) but was only able to go perhaps .005" Notch was lowered to the height of the sight assembly looking forward. I have found a .100 notch, (mine is .0825") but am wondering about the windage screw and nut. Will any do or is this one "special" IE round head, flat head, different threads etc.

In looking at the pistols I have in comparison a 1961 Model 53 and a 1954 K38, The Model 53 Jet has a rounded head and a "Hex" opening. Both the 48 K22 and the 54 K38 have a flat head and a "Hex" opening. Not really that concerned with originality being correct, just getting things to work. If I put a round head screw and nut in the 48 K22 will it work?

Yes. That screw will work just fine. Once you break the old windage screw, be VERY careful pulling it out so the TINY detent spring and head don't go flying to never-never land. The factory used a special punch to stake the new nut but I've been successful using a small flat punch.

Thanks for the info,
I thought that any K frame screw and nut would be OK but was not sure. S&W does tend to mix things up now and then. I will put the revolver in a large plastic bag before disassembly.. I have had things fly off into the ether before.
