Found a Terrier today
Found this Terrier at the gun show today. Serial number is 730XX. The timing and lock up are very good. The finish is in good condition except for the back strap. Most of the bluing is missing in this area.
All of the numbers match including the grips. With the serial number and flatch latch, I would think this would be a very late improved I frame.
I have gone from being a mostly K-frame guy to buying three of these I frames since the end of June. They are really interesting little pieces. Got it for $390 out the door.

You do indeed have a very nice 38 S&W Terrier on the Improved I frame, 2nd version with barrel rib and ramp front sight. And at a very good price.
Per my database, most likely shipped in the 2nd quarter of 1954.
The 2nd model flat latch is an early application.

Thanks for the estimated ship date Hondo. Interesting that even though this one pre-dates the model of 1953, it shipped after that year. Another example of the difference between build and ship dates.

Very true. In fact I have no Models of 1953 in my database that shipped before 1954.

Yes, I list several in the low 74xxx range, all of which shipped in 1954.
