Default Always room for another nice K22 Masterpiece

I have a friend who has his FFL, but does not have a commercial store front. He sells mostly on GunBroker and to the guys in our gun club. He calls me whenever he gets an old Smith, or an uncommon Sig that he has questions about.

He called me a few weeks ago to ask some questions about a K22 that one of his customers wanted him to sell on GunBroker. The more he told me about how clean and complete the gun / package was, the more it caught my interest.
Long story short, this one never made it to auction

I'm more of a 1930 to 1957 N-frame collector, but when something this clean and local came up for sale, I just couldn't pass it up. The box is a little rough and the paperwork is missing, but other than that it's a very nice and complete package. The gun looks to have lead a very easy life, and it will continue leading the life of a safe queen. I have a really nice shooter condition 1947 LERK to get dirty when I feel the need.
According to Roy, this one shipped in September, 1952.

I took these pictures before I cleaned it up. The marks on the front of the barrel came off, as did the scuff of grease / dirt on the right side plate. Looks like I'll have to retake those pictures, along with the butt of the gun, after I clean the lens on my camera

I love the "complete package" revolvers.
Paperwork should be an easy fix, Helpful Hints only, right?

If I ever find a photo host I'd like to post pics again!

I agree you can always add another K-22 and that one is a beauty! The last one I stumbled across was a 1953 vintage with non relieved targets and everything except the tools, a no brainer at $550.00. Enjoy that great revolver!

That was a great find - beautiful gun. I agree - safe queen - for continued admiration only. Guns in that kind of condition are rare and should be preserved for future generations to appreciate the fine workmanship of the good old days. There are plenty of other .22s around to shoot!

Sweet! It's 4 years newer than my K-22 taper barrel, narrow rib. Although mine has a bit more wear on it, it is a favorite and usually ends up in the range bag regardless of whatever else is in there. It's like that puppy that doesn't like to get left behind when I go out for an adventure, but at 69, you'd think it would want to slow down a bit!

Default Beautiful piece

Best of luck on such a pristine S&W. Of course, I kick myself for allowing a 4" Model 17 to slip through my fingers maybe 20 years ago.

Outstanding gun and package. I often wonder where all of the blued steel cleaning rods have gone. Knurled handled SAT's are readily available provided you don't mind swapping a Ben Franklin for one, but you just don't see the cleaning rods from that period. And I make a point of rooting around through boxes at gun shows looking for SAT's and cleaning rods like that style.
