80th Birthday Present for My RM
RM2787 is 80 years young today. Coincidentally, I received my docs from the historical society this week. Paperwork and gun reunited after 80 years! I think the gun is in original condition. I decided not to shoot it. Instead I purchased a nice shooter RM so I can experience the feeling. I will enjoy the heck out of it. I will pick up my purchase permit from the sheriff on Friday, pick up the new gun and go to the range for the first time. I am pumped. Thank you forum members for your expert advice and assistance. Mike at the Collector's Journal said they would like to publish my article on my grandpa RMs, Dillinger, murders and Dubuque justice - hangings. If anybody wants to preview the article, shoot me your email (pun intended). I have included some pictures.
Thanks, Thinnes

I guess that was about as "protective appliance" as you could get! Give us a range report and pics when you break the "new" one in. Really enjoyed following the story on this one.

I love that they apologized for a 2 week delay in shipping.

I think if it was MY grandpa's old RM that was inherited, I would have to take it out and shoot it.
Load it up, send some lead down range, and reminisce about all the companionship this gun and your pap had.
Nothing against the OP, but all the people who refuse to shoot older guns for whatever reason makes my head hurt. Ya'll don't even want to know what all guns I would shoot if I could get my hands on them. As I honestly believe the only way to fully enjoy the quality and engineering of premium firearms is to shoot and use them like intended. When I'm dead, I don't care who still living is sour because I shot a NIB vintage gun.
Congrats on your pap having great taste and leaving you with such a special piece.
