Default Transitional 2" M&P

Although the 2" transitional M&P's don't surface often i have managed to put a few away over the years both in nickel and in blue. I've always been willing to pay more for them because of the long action and the single line address. I'm just curious if there is any significant value in these vs a pre 10 in the same configuration?

I know it's different in certain parts of the country but what would the average value be on a 98% blue and a 98% nickel?

I can't provide any empirical evidence but I've been willing to pay more for the one line address and a bunch more for the round butt.

Like Randy, I too would pay more for the long action S serial numbered 2" guns. I have one and absolutely love it. A round butt would be icing on the cake.

There is not much transitional about those, and they are better described as being post-war (or S-series) M&P snubbies, as they still have the older-style long action. They do command a bit of a premium over the later pre-Model 10 (short action) M&P snubbies. In reasonably good condition, they can easily bring $500-$550, maybe up to $750 for a high condition specimen, or even more with the original box. I don't have any idea of extra value premium associated with a factory nickeled example, but it would probably be significant.

The really high value M&P snubbies are those made prior to WWII.

I think a high condition specimen of a 2" transitional , especially in nickel, would bring a good bit more than $750 in my neck of the woods. I could be wrong because I never see any.

Just a frame of reference regarding the current value of a pre-10 snubbie from an auction that closed earlier this week.
