Default New set of shoes for the Wolf & Klar

Went to the gun show today looking for a more correct set of stocks for my .44. There was a guy there that had hundreds of old stocks. I showed him the gun and he knew exactly what type the gun came with. We got to talking and he knows Mr. Jinks and is a member of the foundation. He told me that he had just sold the only pair of woods stocks that would have been correct for the gun. He said why don't you come down here to the end of the table and look at some I do have that would be period correct. When I looked in the case my jaw nearly dropped. He had several silver and gold southwestern style, a pair of honest to gosh Wolf and Klar ruby eyed, and several Ivory's and sambars. At that time I knew this show was going to cost me money. I was leaning heavily to the ruby eyed but in the back of my head Gen. Patton's quote about pearl grip was lurking so I bought a set of Ivory's.

Those stocks fit your gun so well, I wonder if even custom made stocks would have fit any better. They look great, and I think you made a wise choice.

Congratulations on your find.

It's a little tricky for the pre war n frames because they are just a bit longer than newer n frames everything he showed me were for the older ones. Honestly I've never owned a set of real ivory grips and I'm glad I bought these.

Thanks, it's a thing good Patton was speaking to me because I almost bought the ruby eyed pearls simply because you see so many Wolf & Klar with those type of stocks.

Just as an anecdote the man that had the stocks also had a RM and a W&K in his cases. He asked me what I had paid for my W&K and I told him, he seemed almost dump founded, because the one he had wasn't even close to as good of shape as mine and he wanted 2350 for it. you guys have told me that I got it at a good price and I guess that may prove it.

Ya done well! I love the ivories. I would have probably gone that route with my nickel third model but a vintage set of Sambar stocks popped up online and they were perfect. Those look good on that one.

Congrats Andy!

You now have an honest to goodness genuine W & K Texas law dog BBQ gun!

You did well, much better than pearl New Orleans pimp grips.

I like the medallions too, the right silver color for your vintage gun but recessed attractively like the 1910 to 1920 gold medallions!

When you don't have original matching factory stocks, might as well go period style premium custom, and genuine ivory can't be beat on such a nice "shootin' iron".

Now a fancy, floral carved holster is needed. Then you can show up at the next Bar-B-Que in real style. I'd say you've done very well for yourself, very well indeed.

Yes sir, leather in next step in the evolution of this revolver.
I'm thinking a nice Tom Threepersons holster and matching belt.

OK, I'll be the odd man out. Having the chance to add W&K steer head ruby eyed stocks to a W&K pistola??? I would have told the General to go take a hike and gone with the steers. Oh well, maybe that's because I don't even have a W&K to begin with.

It was really a hard choice to be certain because you see so many W&Ks with those steer head grips. If I had more coin I would have bought both sets but just couldn't spring the cost of both.
I'll have a look at the next gun show and see if the ruby eyed grip are still there.

Always grab contact information when it seems like a good idea. You can always make a call from home and see if sellers will hold something for you. Then the wait will not seem so long between shows.

You are correct Conrad unfortunately I failed to do so. I've gotten 2 PMs asking for that info. I don't think the people that had the tables will be leaving anytime soon, they had way to much inventory to call it quits.
