Default post war 38 m&p transitional range report

Just wanted to drop a few lines as to my observations at the range yesterday. The gun I had a post about last week with the mottled hammer but really nice everywhere else. Needless to say it is an absolute joy to shoot! I could instantly tell the difference with the long action. This surprised me as the short action revolvers made from 1950 or so on seem like a long pull on hammer to set into single action until yesterday. I could tell exactly if I was shooting the m&p or not- without looking (quite a difference). Once I figured out where the front sight needed to be in the sight picture she was shooting clusters all around and throughout the bullseye with 158 grain lrn bullets. Had a bunch of 148 grain hbwc made up and for some reason the gun did not care for these as the groups opened up to six inches with the wadcutters. This was surprising as well. I did not take any pictures of the targets or any more of the gun. Thanks to all who helped me with information on this purchase last week. All my guns get shot but some more than others and this one may only visit range a couple times a year. The longer the barrel the more I take them so being a 4 inch and one of my oldest it may just occasionally go with the 1949 Colt police positive special in nickel on days I want to treat myself to the best.
