Default On this Date in S&W History (9/24)

This is from The History of Smith & Wesson by Roy Jinks in reference to the British Contract S&W .455 Hand Ejectors, First Model (Triple Locks):
"When England entered World War I on August 4, 1914, they sent an urgent message to Smith & Wesson requesting revolvers as promptly as possible. The factory completed the first revolvers on September 24, 1914 ..."

Just something that made me stop and contemplate the state of the world then and now, and our long history with England.

Edited to add:
Opps! I meant to put this one in the Lounge, since I already posted essentially the same information here. Oh well, it's here now.

Jack,

You've posted in the better place.

The 1st of the 666 .44 HE 1st Models chambered in 455 were shipped 4/8/1914 and the majority by 10/21/1914.

Default .455

I just purchased a .455 Triple Lock, awaitimg shipment, unfortunately it has the .45 upgrade. Still shows the British proofs. Thanks for reminding me to crosscheck Roy's 125th history for more information on this fine S&W.
