CALL FOR HIGH QUALITY PHOTOS FOR S&WHF CALENDAR
CALL FOR HIGH QUALITY PHOTOS FOR S&WHF CALENDAR
Forum members:
I am working with Bill Cross, the chairman of the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation (S&WHF), on the possibility of producing a 2019 calendar as a fund raiser for the foundation. Many of you have posted some amazing photos of your collectible Smith’s and this is your opportunity to have them considered for inclusion in the calendar.
What we need are very high quality photos, in high resolution (3600 pixels wide or larger), of highly collectible S&W firearms. They should be very well staged with proper lighting and excellent focus. Only the very best images will be selected. By submitting photos you are asserting that you are the owner of the photo and are giving copyright authority to the S&WHF to reproduce and sell them for fund raising purposes, now and in the future.
Email your submissions to [email protected] no later than February 15, 2018.
NOTE: When typing the email address above, be sure to include an underscore between "swhf" and "calendar", as in: swhf_calendar@. Please PM me if you have any problems with it.
You may see responses from either Bill or I from this email address. It was set up specifically for this project and we both have access. Depending on your email service, you may see my name on the account even when Bill responds.
Be sure to: - Submit pictures in excellent focus 3600 pixels wide or wider (supports high quality printing)
- Title your email as “S&WHF Calendar Submission”
- State in your message that you are granting the S&WHF permission to use the photo for fund raising purposes now and in the future. Again, the photos must be your property.
- Include pertinent details about the firearm (model, year of manufacture, barrel length, history, anything you want to share about it)
- Tell us if you want your name mentioned for the image or not. It will not be included unless you tell us you want to be recognized.
Our goal is to produce a very high quality calendar to help support the great work that the S&WHF does, so we will be very picky. Even if your photo is not selected this time, it could be used in the future.
If you are interested in buying a calendar, please post your interest at the link below:
S&WHF calendar, PRICE CHANGE, please read 1st post before answering poll
Special thanks to Handejector for supporting this effort!
Dave

I have to ask...
since you posted this in the HE '96 - '61 forum.
Are these the only submissions you'll consider?
Thanks,
Bob

No, not at all. If you have something outstanding that you wish to submit, please do. I was asked to place this post here, so I complied. We want to encourage the widest participation possible.
I will be making recommendations to Bill and he will have the final say on selections for the calendar.

Do you have any idea as to the cost of the calendars.

Not yet. We still have to research the printing and design costs. Then we will be able to determine a price.

I like it, I don't know that my photography skills are up to the task but I'll give it a try.

Picking twelve from some of the great shots I've seen on this forum will not be an enviable task.

We have received several submissions so far, but are looking for a lot more. Please support this project and send in your best photos of rare and collectible Smiths by October 15th. Refer to the first post in this thread for details. Thank you!

I'm glad someone bumped this thread. I missed it earlier. I'm not very "artistic" and my HP was my Dad's carry gun for many decades. It's not pristine but I will be glad to give it a shot (pun intended).
Can we submit more than one picture of the same HP?

Yes, please submit as many as you like. The higher the resolution the better. We can't use images that are too small or out of focus. We are getting a decent response so far, but can use some more good quality photos. Please submit them soon. See the original post for details and read the instructions carefully. Thanks to all who have submitted!

I found this morning that many of your emails were going into my junk mail. I recovered many awesome photos. You guys have some fabulous guns and I am stoked about this project. It is going to be very tough to pick the best.
I may do some cropping and Photoshop work to make them calendar-ready. If you don't want them altered in any way, please let me know.

Three days left to submit your pictures. Try to make them 4000 pixels wide or bigger.

The S&WHF leadership is considering the production of a 2019 calendar so we have more time to do it right! The deadline for submitting pictures has been extended to February 15, 2018. The images should be digital and at least 3600 pixels in width. Keep 'em coming! Thanks.

???????? Sorry but I'm going to have to argue that. Picking through all of the submissions to find the top twelve shots would be one of the most enviable tasks I could think of. Though dealing with the arguments afterwards might be a bit tricky.
