Default My 'S' number M&P:

...kscharley talks about his single address line, and that made wonder about mine, so, what's known about the shipping date of my 6 inch 'S-number' M&P?
Serno- S9420XX.

Thanks- Don

Probably second half of 1947. But the experts will be along shortly with a more precise answer. Good looking post-war example with nice sharp-shoulder magnas.

That's a great looking M&P Paul!! Color case hardening on hammer/trigger really pops.

Don
Numbers in that range were shipping in September, 1947. I show several of them in my database.

Please send me a PM with the full number, so I can add it to my research on these guns. Both 5" and 6" guns show up in that serial range.

That's a beauty.

Mine (not nearly as fine) is close to yours; S9440xx

Hard to believe someone sanded the matching magna's smooth and filed the front sight.

It shipped 11/47.

"Hard to believe someone sanded the matching magna's smooth and filed the front sight."

It happens. I have a ca. 1960 Colt .357 with the original Gen I full checkered target grips, roughly the equivalent in desirability to S&W N-frame Cokes. Except a previous owner sanded them smooth. I once loaned my brother my all-original and nearly pristine Luger. He decided to sand its checkered wooden grips smooth. I never quite forgave him.

...HI T.G. - yeah, it is, but you must remember that mods like that may have been made decades ago when our revolvers weren't worth much and weren't so collectable.

{Still a nice looking piece}.
