Default I took an old friend shooting

My old friend is a beautifully maintained, with slight wear (description copied from GUNBOKER add for gun that looked the same) Kansas City MO. registered magnum shipped in 1939.
A 68 year old shooting a 78 year old gun.
This is the first time I had shot the gun with service grips and prewar grips adaptor. It took a few rounds to find proper hold.
I shot 36 rounds of 158 grain round nose lead 38 special loads at 10 yards double action. The double action is very smooth.

I guess we can thank KCMO for putting quite a few RNs and NRMs is circulation . I found one of the NRMs about a year and a half ago... looks a lot like yours. Wish I could shoot as well.

I’m 71 and I take this old 78 year old friend shooting once in a while too - it was in the same 1939 shipment to the KCPD as the one pictured above.

Your serial number wouldn't happen to be 59786? I ask because I have a set of Magnas that shipped on an RM that went to KCPD.

Mine is serial# 59384, Reg# 5008. The grips on mine are serialized to the gun.

Hmmm, you make this 76 year old want to take his 67 yr old Pre 27 out for a little outing.

Not likely I'll own a Registered Magnum, but I sure enjoyed the title of your thread -- very classy (of course, so's the RM)!

I'll happily think of your title the next time I take out my first-year Highway Patrolman (two years my junior).

Quinn: In regard to shooting the RM with the pre war grips adaptor.
I had trouble getting a good grip with the pre war grip adaptor, causing my hand to be pushed down so my little finger was under the grip.
I did not like this and if I was shooting heavier loads this might be a problem.

Default KCPD Magnums......

Gotta' love 'em!! This one made the trip in 1940.

Ol' girl still looks great!!

I would like to be able to say that I'll never dance with another, but, it's hard to be faithful when her competition looks like this slightly older girl (1939) from Evansville Indiana

Best part is, I'm never short on dance partners.
