Default .32 Revolver

I have recently acquired a .32 revolver that was my great-grandfathers. Since my grandmother was born in 1907 this is probably late 1800's to early 1900's. It is a pearl handled side eject 6 shot .32 long ctg revolver serial number 251559. I cannot find any information on this pistol so I would appreciate any help on dates, origin, etc. Thanks for any help out there.

Can't tell exactly what model it is without a picture, but probably a Model of 1903 5th Change. That SN would date it from around 1917.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Yeah, please post some photos. S&W began production of the Regulation Police revolver in 1917. Also, there were a few K frames in .32 Long in that era, IIRC. We can give you more detailed information after seeing the gun.

Mike,

Welcome to the forum.

It always helps to identify exactly which 32 cartridge it is, 32 S&W Long or 32-20 Winchester.

But as DWalt posted, that serial # can only be a 32 Long Hand Ejector Model of 1903-5th Change from 1917. The serial # is too low to be a 32 Regulation Police.

Jim, I was going to mention .32-20 but he says it's a .32 long in the body of his post.
