K-22 goodness
Shot a quick pic of my two K-22s while I was wiping them down tonight. Bottom is a 1952 vintage, the top gun in the pic is a 1960 model 48 .22 WMR. Love 'em both. They've just never made a better gun for .22 purposes than these, I know many here will agree.

What is the serial number of the M48, and is it a 4 screw. I have two 8 3/8" guns from that era and one actually lettered as a K38. Mr. Jinks checked twice. S&W recording error. Big Larry

Yes, model 48, no dash, 4-screw gun. S.N. is K 3904xx.

Beaut K22s!
Will 'see' that 1952, 'heavy barrel apparent', K 22 beauty. Matched to same model/vintage, "narrow rib", taper barrel configuration! By then, such earlier style being quietly phased out.
Myself, hung up on these early config postwar 'dodo' editions. Such guns preceding cries of 'equal weight for unequal guns'! From several chamberings offered in .22, .32 & .38; same-weight demanded and achieved... at weight/bulk reconfig!
Even the 22 chambering morphing from 'nether days' serious, multi gun-set, target gun applications. Nowadays principally to niceties of 'collector/casual shooter status'. And surely each collector to their own! For me, the early style preference. Lighter, tactilely (is that a word) natural-pointing; aesthetically, 'svelte'!
Reflecting such personal choice context, my several 'earlies': SN 141xxx '52 &, 17xxx ,10xxx, both '47. Latter SN in representative pix below; era box appended.
Just my take!
