Default Registered Magnum without original stocks.....How much of a deduction in value?

Curious if a registered magnum is in excellent condition but wearing a correct, but not original set of stocks how much of a deduction in overall value would it be???

***CORRECTION***
The magna stocks on the gun are NOT numbered at all, they are blank.
Not sure if they are original or not.....I suppose they could be.

It's gonna be subjective. If it shipped with magnas, but now had service type stocks, it would matter to me, but how much would depend on other factors. Asking price would be one major factor.

Mine shipped with magnas but when I got it, it had mother of pearl grips with longhorn steers and ruby eyes.. Considering where it was shipped, those made a lot of sense. Texas BBQ gun at it's best. I got period magnas for it and put the MOP grips away for special occasions. It might be worth more with the original grips but not by a huge amount. Of the two RM I've had, neither had it's original grips and that didn't stop me from buying them. I still shoot the one I kept.

CORRECTION: The gun has magnas that are NOT numbered at all. I misread the email from the seller.

If you're buying it knocks the price down $500. If you're selling, mmm, they're probably original and just didn't get numbered.

LOL..... would you rather have George S Patton's RM with the original numbered grips, mismatched factory grips or with some after market Ivory grips w/ another guys initials inlaid???????

When I found my 98% RM w/o it's original grips..... I asked myself that same question......I concluded it was highly unlikely that a Buyer would swap out his Magna grips for another set of factory Magna grips.

Being too 'frugal" to buy Ivory; I opted to have Executioner/Grashorn make me a set of no bark stags for it!!!!!

In the 1930s like today I'm sure there were a lot of RM's that got "custom grips".... and the original grips like the boxes ended up lost to history!!!

Mine looks good and no issue of someone thinking I'm passing the grips off as original........... That said I've thought about getting a nice set of pre war magna's......... have not done it too date!!!!!! Maybe someday!

Given an excellent condition gun I want, I couldn't care less if the stocks match the gun----or if it doesn't have any at all. If the grips match---great---I got a bonus. Otherwise--------phfffft!

And I wouldn't be pressing for any sort of a discount lest the seller come to think life's too short to put up with this haggling stuff. It ain't like he can't sell it to someone else in about two seconds flat!!

When my gun gets sold it'll be wearing a pair of drop dead gorgeous Ropers. Anyone who fusses about that will be dismissed.

Gotta laugh when I read the Roper comment. The first encounter I had with ropers are when iI ran into a RM at a gun show. Been hooked on Ropers ever since. Wish I bought RM 69 that day.
