Default Another Victory for the data base

V241926. Came from a shop in CA selling it for the estate of a WWII Navy vet. All the numbers are good except the grips, 214927. With 5 of 6 digits matching and 3 in the proper order maybe the stamp guy was hung over or left his glasses at home that day. Who knows. Came with a Navy marked Boyt M3 holster.

No markings with the exception of the flaming bomb on the butt. Any one venture a guess till the letter gets here?

Get a lanyard ring and you're all set.

The serial places it in spring 1943.

And if there is no top-strap stamp, it likely did not meet up with the holster until after the war, because the gun would be a DSC or Maritime Commission contract gun, not military-shipped.

Happened a lot with these sets. A vet brings his holster home, and later buys a surplus gun "just like the ones we got issued in the war" to go with it.

PS: A bit odd in appearance. The finish is unusually shiny for a Victory, and sideplate fit is very poor, but somehow it does not look refinished to me.

Have one somewhere but as usual I'll have to buy another so I can find the one I already have. At least the pin is there.

Ordered one this morning and within an hour found the missing one. Guess I'll have buy another revolver without the loop so the new one doesn't go to waste.

I agree. Most of the finish is a brownish patina. Did a partial disassembly this morning to replace the lanyard loop and check the internals. Finish looks more like bluing than black magic both under the grips and inside the sideplate. Also the polish on the frame and barrel shows more attention than any of my other Victory's. All of the stampings are too crisp to suggest a refinish. A letter will tell all.
